Jaipur, capital of the state of
Rajasthan, is also known as the "Pink City", the city is
called so because the city is mainly painted with the color pink an
all the ancient palace and monuments are built with the traditional
pink stone. This city was ruled by the brave, chivalrious and great
warriors of bygone era the Rajputs. This city and Rajasthan saw its
golden era in those days. Built by the great warrior and even better
astronomer, Raja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727, Jaipur is full of
formidable forts, enchanting palaces and lovely temples, the city
was completed in only eight years. Also this city offers a paradise
for shoppers, Jaipur offers jwellery, leather goods, and several
other bargains.
Old Jaipur city is surrounded by seven gates that were built as to
provide protection to the people of the city and to scan the people
entering and leaving the city. Jaipur is enriched with several
numbers of architectural monuments that were built in the bygone
era. These monuments now rub shoulders with sprawling huge towers
and office buildings that are coming up to support the boom in the
economy of the state of Rajasthan.

from Delhi in morning (Shatabdhi Exp) and evening (Intercity Exp).

Rajasthan Roadways run very comfortable deluxe
& air conditioned buses from Delhi (Bikaner House, Nr. India
Gate) to Jaipur. The roads are very good, and it takes around 5-6
hrs from Delhi. |
