Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is the largest of five astronomical observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh II. Located near City Palace, Jantar Mantar is a marvel in itself with spectacular collection of efficient instruments. Built between 1727 and 1733, the astronomical wonder was originally established to measure the local time, declination of stars, altitude etc. Some of the popular instruments located at Jaipur are the Samrat Yantra, Jaiprakash Yantra, Dhruva, Kranti, Ram Yantra, Digantra, Unnathamsa etc. On your trip to Jaipur do have a glimpse of this cosmos quest world.

Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal, built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap, is one of the spectacular landmarks in Jaipur. This glorious, pyramid shaped, five-storeyed historical building is a wonderful example of Rajput artistry. This building, with its 953 pink, delicately honeycombed, sandstone windows though which cool air circulates throughout inside the building. Hence the name Hawa Mahal, which literally means Palace of Wind. If you want to have the glimpse of screen balcony and beautiful fa�ade, then you can visit the Hawa Mahal on any day between 9 am to 4 pm.

City Palace
City Palace, located in the centre of Pink City is one of the major tourist attractions of Jaipur. The amazingly beautiful City Palace built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh is broadly acclaimed for its unique Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. On your visit to glorious City Palace, you will be surprised to see number of palaces located within the huge compound. ‘Chandra Mahal’, ‘Mubarak Mahal’ and ‘Badal Mahal’ are some of the stunning citadels, which will delight you with their paintings, murals and magnificent architecture. Gaitore
Gaitore a royal cremation site for the majestic Jaipur rulers is located about 15 kms away from city on the Jaipur- Amber road. The place, which is known for its perfect blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture, includes number of cenotaph or chhatris built in the honor of each King. The typical Rajasthani designs carved on these cenotaphs represent the taste of departed souls. Although each cenotaph has its own charm, the one dedicated to Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II appeals the visitors the most. This pure white marble cenotaph with delicate carvings of peacocks and other beautiful designs stands as a true treat for the eyes. With its beautiful artistry and majestic history, Gaitore is an aesthetic monument in itself.

Nahargarh Fort
Nahargarh, another major attraction of Jaipur, is situated on Delhi-Jaipur Highway, which is 11 km from city. The fort, built by Maharaja Jai Sawai Singh, stands at the top of the rocky ‘Aravalis’ hills. The fort built in 1734 was in the verge of ruin. However, with the further extension and reconstruction by succeeding rulers, the fort has been saved from crumbling away into destruction. Today, thousands of tourists visit this fort to get the spectacular view of Jaipur, which glitters at night.

Jaigarh Fort
Jaigarh fort, situated approximately 15 km from Jaipur, is well known for its military structure of medieval India. Established between 15th and 16th Century, the stone parapet of the fort is visible from the royal city of Jaipur. Jaigarh fort consists of vast collection of historical weapons, which displays the power, and prestige of Jaipur rulers. Apart from its exquisite collections, the fort offers fascinating view of several temples, reservoirs, granary and armory.

Amber Fort
Amber fort, located on a small hill at a distance of 11 km from Jaipur, is a fine example of unique combination of Muslim and Hindu architecture. The construction of fort was initiated by Man Singh I in 1592. However, it was completed by his successor Sawai Jai Singh. Built in red stone and white marble, the fort offers some of the best paintings, intricate carvings, mirror works and other warm interiors.

Jal Mahal
This 18th century Indo-Mughal architectural wonder, situated amidst Man Sagar Lake, is celebrated for its grand sophistication and splendid architecture. This pleasure palace, built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber, initially served as a leisure spot for royal dignitaries and shooting enthusiasts. The most amazing thing about this place is that the first four floors are underwater while only the top floor floats on the top. A causeway links the palace to the banks. Today, this place acts as a vantage point for tourists and is the ultimate hub for the bird watchers.
