Here is a brief profile and history of low cost airline IndiGo.

IndiGo Airline

IndiGo is the latest entrant to the domestic civil aviation space in India. Based in Gurgaon, Haryana, India, the low cost carrier took off its inaugural flight from Delhi to Imphal (via Guwahat), on August 4, 2006. InterGlobe Enterprises, a renowned travel corporation, is the owner of IndiGo. The airline is targeting those people, who are looking for affordability, punctuality, hassle-free processing and of course, comfortable journey by air. The first Airbus of IndiGo - A320 - was delivered to the airline, on July 28, 2006. The airline received six aircrafts in 2006. It increased the number of aircrafts to 15, when it was delivered nine more, in 2007. As many as three parking lots were assigned to the airline, in Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi) Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai), recently. Currently, IndiGo has fleet of only one type of aircraft, the A320-200, which has a capacity of 180 passengers. The airline would be delivered 30 Airbus A321-200, with a seating capacity of 220 passengers.

Destinations
Currently, IndiGo covers as many as 19 destinations in India, which include Hyderabad, Guwahati, Patna, Delhi, Goa, Ahmadabad, Vadodara, Bangalore, Cochin, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Imphal, Bhubaneshwar, Jaipur, Chennai, Agartala, Lucknow and Kolkata.
