Traveling To Nainital

By Air

Nainital does not have an airport of its own and the sole option for any tourist traveling by air is to avail the nearest airport. Pantnagar, located 72 km away from the city, is the closest airport here. From Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport, there are regular flights to Pantnagar. Once you land at the airport, there are many taxis, local buses and cabs available to take you to the hill station. The taxi drivers usually charge about Rs 1500/- to reach Nainital.

By Rail
The nearest railway head is the Kathgodam railway station, which is approximately 35 km away from Nainital. From metro cities like Lucknow, Bareilly, Kanpur, Jammu, New Delhi and Kolkata, there are umpteen numbers of trains traveling daily to this town. While from Delhi, there is Ranikhet and Uttaranchal Sampark Kranti Express operating to Kathgodam on a daily basis, from Jammu, there is Garib Rath Express functioning only on Sundays. Once you reach Kathgodam, you can reach Nainital easily as there are many cabs and buses available. If you want to travel by taxi to reach the main city, then be ready to shell out Rs 600/-.

By Road
Nainital has a well-maintained road network and thus, travelling by road is quite comfortable. The capital city of Delhi is located just 310 km away from Nainital and deluxe buses are found in plenty at ISBT Anand Vihar. Those looking out for some high comfort ride can opt for A/C Volvo Semi Sleeper or semi deluxe luxury buses.
