Traveling To Delhi

By Air

Delhi is a major international getaway with extensive air connections to almost all the important domestic and international cities across the globe. Indira Gandhi National Airport serves as the international entr�e while Palam Airport operates as the domestic gateway. Almost all the major airlines operate here including Air France, Air Pacific, Aeroflot, Air India, Air Sahara, American Airlines, British Airways, Emirates, Kuwait Airways and many more. Domestic airlines like Indigo, Kingfisher Airlines, Kingfisher Red, Jet Airways, Jetlite, and Paramount Airways fly regularly to Delhi. The IGI is situated 20 kms from the Connaught Place. However, if you are traveling in winter, beware of booking back-to-back flights, as the city is prone to thick fog during the months of December and January, often disrupting the airline schedule.

By Rail
Delhi is well connected to almost all the important states in India, thanks to Indian Railways that runs super-fast and Rajdhani express trains that connect it to all the state capitals. Shatabdi Express trains link up New Delhi to the neighboring cities. Delhi has three major railheads - one at New Delhi (Paharganj), other at Old Delhi and the third station in Nizamuddin, which is in the south of Sunder Nagar. Before you bound your train, make sure you know the station that serves your destination. For instance, the New Delhi train station is close to Connaught Place and leads to the main city. If you wish to scout the tourist destinations in and around Delhi, you can avail the luxury trains like the Palace-on-Wheels, Fairy Queen, and Royal Orient Express for a true blue royal ride.

By Road
Delhi is well connected to almost all the major cities in north India through a strong network of roads and highways. Buses ply at regular intervals between Delhi and other important domestic destinations. There are three inter-state bus terminals at Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar, and Sarai Kale Khan, which run both government and privately owned air-conditioned, deluxe and ordinary coaches. All ISBT stations offer 24-hour left-luggage facility. One can also find government as well as private taxis here. If you are traveling by bus, its best advised to arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of your departure time.
