Handmade Dorm Quilts

This quilt making requires basic sewing skills. If you like quilting, you can finish the project on your own or you can just prepare the quilt covering and let the quilt guild take it over. It is an excellent gift for a college going students. College grads will find your dorm quilts a very practical gift, especially when their name is embroidered on it.

Things You Will Need:

Embroidery Thread
Fabric for Back of the Quilt
Fabric of Desired Colors and Shades
Needle
Scissors
Thread to sew

Method:

Cut out 8" by 8" squares from the fabric.
Arrange them according to good color combination and lay them down with wrong side up.
5 squares will do for the width of the quilt while 7 squares will do for the length of the quilt.
Sew the edges of the squares together.
Embroider the name of the student and the college year on the quilt.
Sew the edges of the quilt top you have made and the backside fabric, wrong sides together.
Get it quilted from the quilt guild.
