Warts Information
A wart is a virus classified within the Human Papilloma Viruses (HPVs). They generally consist of hard growths on the skin. Warts is a problem common to both children as well as adults. They can occur at any part of the body, like skin, mouth, genitals, rectal area, etc. Although, warts can spread, but are usually harmless. Read on for more warts information:
Types of Warts:
Common warts:
Common warts generally occur on the backs of the hands and on the fingers. Broken skin (especially where fingernails are bitten) is a common place for warts to grow.
Foot warts:
Also known as Plantar warts, Foot warts occur on the soles (plantar area) of the feet. Causing a lot of pain, they often create a sensation like that of a pebble in your shoe.
Flat warts:
Flat warts generally occur in huge numbers, even up to 100 at a time. Smoother and flatter than other types of warts, they can occur anywhere on the body.
Genital warts:
The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, causes genital warts.
Causes of Warts:
- Virus Infection (generally contracted in swimming pools)
- Defects in the proper development of the skin surface in certain areas.
Warts Symptoms:
Warts appear as rough elevations on the skin, generally on the fingers, elbows, knees, face, and scalp.
