Scurvy Information
An ailment common amongst sailors, and in people who are deprived of fresh fruits and vegetables for long periods of time, scurvy results due to deficiency of vitamin C from the diet. Scurvy makes the patient look pale and depressed apart from partially immobilizing him/her. It also leads to the formation of spots on the skin, spongy gums and bleeding from the mucous membranes.
