Jaundice is a liver disorder that causes yellow
discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes, due to an increase in
the bile pigments, namely bilirubin, in the blood. Known as icterus,
jaundice can strike people irrespective of their age and sex. Jaundice
is most often the result of a disorder affecting the liver. It is
basically of three types - hemolytic jaundice, hepatocellular jaundice
and obstructive jaundice. Nowadays, many newborn babies are affected
with the disease at the time of their birth. In the following lines, we
