A reaction, which occurs in the immune system of the
body, because of certain environmental substances is referred to as
allergy. Known as atopy as well, allergy is characterized by extreme
activation of certain white blood cells called mast cells and basophils.
In general, our immune system fights germs and gives out signs in the
context as well. However, in case of allergies, it raises false alarms.
The foreign substance that enters the body, in case of allergies, is
generally harmless and remains as such to non-allergic persons. Some of
the most prevalent allergic reactions include eczema, hives, hay fever,
asthma, food allergies, etc. Allergies range from being mild to moderate
