DBS is one of the largest financial services groups in Asia with leading positions in consumer banking, treasury and markets, asset management, securities brokerage, equity and debt fund raising in Singapore and Hong Kong.

DBS Bank started its operations in India in 1994 when it opened a representative office in Mumbai. This was upgraded to a full branch in March 1995. DBS opened its other branch in Delhi in 2005. In June 2005, DBS and Cholamandalam Investments and Finance Company Limited (Chola) agreed to form the Cholamandalam DBS Joint Venture. The vision behind the joint venture is to build a leading financial services company with interests in consumer finance, asset management and securities.
